About

"Dude, You Have No Quran!" is a quote attributed to Jacob Isom, a 23-year-old man from Amarillo, Texas who reportedly intercepted a copy of the Muslim holy book from a radical Christian preacher who was trying to to burn it at a local park.

Origin

On September 11th, 2010, a group of fundamentalist Christians led by local preacher David Grisham held an event at a city park to burn a gasoline-soaked copy of the Qur'an, supposedly in memorial of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. According to Amarillo Globe-News, approximately 200 people showed up to protest the planned burning, including a 23 year old resident Jacob Isom who rescued the bible from a grill stand while it was left unattended by Grisham.

"[I] Snuck up behind him and took his Quran. He said something about burning the Quran, and I was like 'Dude, you have no Quran!'"

Spread

A few days later, it gained enough widespread recognition to be treated with Auto-Tune by YouTuber BartBaker (shown below, left). On September 18th, CBS news contributor Shira Lazar interviewed Jacob about his day at the Amarillo city park and newly-gained viral status (shown below, right).

On October 30th, 2010, Isom appeared at the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear in Washington D.C. to receive a medal for reasonableness awarded by Jon Stewart, which he promptly threw to someone in the audience.

Isom's Cheesesteak Recipe

It was also revealed that YouTuber nickkershakfilms posted a three-part Philly's cheesesteak recipe video hosted by Jacob earlier that year on March 12th, 2010.
