Eat The Emoji is a TikTok meme that involves a person "eating" an emoji, which is usually a fruit, using a scrolling text filter and then spitting out the actual item. It is similar in nature to Will Sasso's Lemon Vines.

Origin

TikTok user ajnugent_ started the trend on June 26th, 2020. She posted a video of herself eating a lemon emoji to the tune of Karl Jenkins' Mr. Lucky, then spitting out an actual lemon.[1] The video (shown below) has over 7 million views an over 1.5 million likes.

Other users on TikTok copied the video by eating not only lemons, but other food emojis. On July 15th, 2020, TikTok user shin_sajang93 did a stitch of the video using watermelon emojis.[2] The video (shown below) has over 800,000 views and over 130,000 likes.

On October 5th, 2020, TikTok user posted a stitch video that used the eggplant emoji, but instead tried to avoid eating it while screaming.[3] The video (shown below) has over 73 million views and over 12 million likes.

On October 10th, 2020, TikTok user Ronald Williams posted his version of the video. This video also involved an eggplant, but Ronald managed to "eat" the eggplant instead of running from it.[4] This video (shown below) has over 8.9 million views and over 1.6 million likes.
