Elec Shooting Granolah In The Back is an exploitable meme format taken from a page of the Dragon Ball Super manga, which depicts a scene of the character Granolah being shot in the back by a gun held by Elec standing behind him. The page started being used as a redraw meme primarily in March 2026, though earlier examples from the 2020s exist, in which characters are swapped out to show one character shooting another in the back. Numerous variants of the original panel were shared on X / Twitter in early March 2026 as the meme spread.

Origin

The meme originates from a page of the Dragon Ball Super manga during the Granolah the Survivor story arc. In the manga, the character Granolah fights Elec of the Heeter Force after fighting Goku and Vegeta. However, Gas, another member of the Heeter Force, breaks Granolah's arms and energy blasts his eyes. Afterwards, Elec appears behind Granolah and shoots him from behind with a gun, which fatally wounds him.^[1]

The exact first example of the panel being redrawn as a meme is unknown, but artist BomberART posted the earliest known example of a redraw sometime in the 2020s. On July 24th, 2025, BomberART (bomberbossart) reposted their redraw to X / Twitter^[2] of the Dragon Ball scene under a comic by Blobby and Friends depicting a teacher yelling at a student for her skirt being too short, who then returns in a clown outfit, with the teacher then shooting her in the back. In the tweet, BomberART stated they made it "a few years back."

On February 11th, 2026, Twitter^[5] user TheF1amethr0wer posted a redraw depicting Team Fortress 2 characters Spy and Sniper recreating the manga panel, garnering over 168,800 views and over 15,000 likes in one month.

On March 3rd, 2026, Twitter^[3] user PalmtreePanicCD then reposted the comic and redraw by BomberART with the caption, "This has got to be one of my favorite images of all time," garnering over 1.8 million views, 48,000 likes and 90 replies in eight days.

The following day, Twitter^[4] user Tmc0610 then replied with the original Dragon Ball Super panel, writing, "This panel has always been so funny outta context." The tweet received over 400,000 views, 350 retweets and 20 replies in a week, with several users replying with redraws of the scene.

Spread

Numerous X / Twitter users continued posting redraws of the Elec Shooting Granolah In The Back scene over the following days in early March 2026, with the meme eventually spreading to other sites and platforms.

For instance, on March 5th, 2026, Twitter^[6] user DrixOnFire posted a redraw depicting two characters from Jujutsu Kaisen, garnering over 634,400 views, 19,000 likes and 110 replies in six days.

On March 7th, Twitter^[7] user NGZ0NE posted an example depicting Mario being shot in the back by Joker from Persona 5, captioned, "For his neutral special, he wields a gun." The tweet received over 280,800 views, 36,000 likes and 25 replies in four days.

On March 8th, 2026, Redditor le-dukek posted an example with characters from Undertale to the /r/DrakeTheType^[8] subreddit under the title, "Drake the type of backstabbing byron that would do this to Dj Khalid when he needs more EXP to beat Kendrick," garnering over 320 upvotes and 30 comments in three days.

Also on March 8th, Bluesky^[9] user wizardofrank shared a redraw of the meme depicting characters from Deadlock, receiving over 300 likes and 80 reposts in three days.
