About
"epic embed fail", also known as "embed failure", is a catchphrase used to reply to Discord messages with broken or failed embeds. This can be done through text, but is mainly done through Tenor GIFs, as a way to make fun of the user by having an embed in the message they reply with.
Origin
The catchphrase likely began when Tenor user Inferior_Alias uploaded Fail Meme GIF on December 7th, 2020, using the CallMeCarson crying meme with the caption "epic embed fail".
Spread
On January 11th, 2021, Tenor user Fenveros uploaded Jesus Ballin Mars Bars GIF using the Walter White breaks down meme with the caption "epic embed fail".
"epic embed fail" continued to maintain popularity in the following years, for example, a February 3rd, 2021 post made to Tenor captioned "epic embed fail", and an April 17th, 2021 Tenor GIF captioned "lol embed fail".
