Overview

Claudia Conway Arrest Allegations refers to a series of TikTok videos posted by the 15-year-old daughter of Kellyanne Conway, Claudia Conway, in which she accuses her mother of getting her arrested in the past following her public political statements made on the platform in June 2020. The videos and online discussion of the accusations went viral on Twitter in early August 2020.

Background

In June 2020, Claudia Conway engaged in a social media feud with her parents after posting TikToks and Tweets denouncing Donald Trump. Her social media accounts went private in July. On August 6th, Claudia Conway began posting TikTok videos which many interpreted was suggesting her mother had her arrested (shown below). The initial video suggesting that her mother lied to the authorities to get her arrested gained over 689,400 likes in three days.

That day Conway went on TikTok Live which was unrecorded. Twitter user @juliananannana^[1] tweeted, "claudia conway just went live on tiktok and talked about how her mother has physically and emotionally abused her for years and had her arrested for fake assault charges a few weeks ago…….someone get this girl emancipated STAT" (shown below). The tweet was liked by Claudia Conway and garnered over 6,200 likes and 800 retweets in three days.

Developments

On August 6th, 2020, Claudia Conway continued to post TikTok videos relating to the subject. That day, she posted a video saying she just got a call from her mother threatening to get her arrested again. The video received over 315,600 likes in three days (shown below).

Shortly after posting her video, @claudiamconwayy^[3] tweeted, "how do i get in touch with pro bono lawyers" which acquired over 10,700 likes and 770 retweets in three days (shown below, left). That same day, @claudiamconwayy^[2] tweeted a message to the media saying, "DO NOT USE MY TRAUMA AS A MEANS FOR PUBLICITY OR PROFIT" (shown below, right). The tweet accumulated over 21,500 likes and 1,000 retweets in three days. Heavy^[4] and The Daily Dot^[5] published articles regarding Conway's accusations.
