About
Gawr Gura's Graduation refers to VTuber Gawr Gura announcing her retirement from her role with Hololive on May 1st, 2025. Gawr Gura is one of the most popular creators introduced in the first cohort of English-speaking Hololive VTubers in 2020 and cited "disagreements with management and company direction" as her reason for retirement. Gura's retirement coincided with the April 2025 4chan hack, with many internet users lamenting the loss of their favorite VTuber as well as /vt/, a forum used to discuss VTubers, at the same time.

On April 15th, 2025, Gawr Gura made a post on X[1] announcing an upcoming YouTube live. The post read, "i have to talk to you about something tonight- 💙," and showed artwork of Gawr Gura looking off to the left.
The graduation announcement video went live late on April 15th E.S.T., and gathered over 1.4 million views in six hours. The nearly 8-minute long YouTube[2] video shows Gawr Gura introducing herself, thanking her fans for listening and announcing her graduation from Hololive on May 1st, 2025. She cites her reasons for retirement as being "disagreements with management and company direction."
The official Hololive EN Reddit[6] account made a post addressing Gura's retirement on April 15th, 2025, gathering over 11,000 upvotes in a day.
