Overview

Jeffery Scott West Shooting Kyle Spitze refers to the 2023 death of Friendsville, Tennessee man Jeffery Scott West directly following him shooting his partner's son Kyle W. Spitze who caught the scene on video. Spitze did not die from the attack but West barricaded himself inside the home after the shooting where he committed suicide before police infiltrated. The video of West shooting Spitze went viral on social media in January 2024, centering on a screencap of West pointing the gun at the camera and shooting. After the incident, many on Twitter / X and Reddit alleged that Spitze was a groomer who was part of a Discord server named 764 under his username "criminal." In the aftermath, others labeled Spitze a femboy and a crossdresser.

Background

On August 25th, 2023, the Blount County Sheriff's Department responded to a call in Freindsville, Tennessee, about a shooting started by a domestic dispute.^[1] One man, 68-year-old Jeffery Scott West, had barricaded himself inside the home. He later committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.^[1] Before his death, West had shot his partner's son, 24-year-old Kyle W. Spitze, in the right ear. It was a non-fatal wound and he was taken to the hospital for treatment shortly after.^[1]

The story went largely dormant until January 15th, 2024, when X^[10] user @sag posted a video that was purportedly taken by Spitze on the night of the incident. In the video, West is seen pointing a gun at Spitze, eventually shooting him. It's visible that Spitze is bleeding on the ground after the shot and he runs out of the house soon after. Over two days, the post gained roughly 31.5 million views and 84,000 likes.

Online Reaction

The video started to spread online in mid-January 2024, evident in a repost of the video shared by Redditor Guns_and_Potions to the subreddit /r/PublicFreakout,^[2] gaining over 18,800 upvotes in two days. The viral video was also reposted by X^[3] user @dyingscribe on January 15th, 2024, who told his followers "You gotta watch this whole video rn," gaining over 1.8 million views and 11,000 likes in two days.

Many started to make memes with the screencap of West's gun shooting toward the camera. For instance, on January 15th, X^[4] user @Parabellum2021 captioned the image, "Shouldn't have eaten his eggo waffles," gaining over 1,800 likes in two days (shown below, left).

On January 16th, 2024, X^[5] user @TrevorAugust captioned the same screencap with, "Truth is this game was rigged from the start," receiving over 13,000 likes in one day (shown below, right).

Developments

Kyle Spitze Grooming Allegations

On January 16th, 2024, X^[6] user @babyteethgirl tweeted, "I cannot believe my ex has gone viral LMFAO," in reference to Kyle W. Spitze. She further stated, "I hope it haunts him for the rest of his life what he is doing to me and multiple other girls and CHILDREN" (shown below, left).

@babyteethgirl continued in another tweet^[7] that Spitze had allegedly posted revenge porn of her, other women and minors to make money off of them. She also alleged that he was a part of an online group called 764 (shown below, right). Other X^[8]^[9] users on the same day levied similar accusations.

The two aforementioned tweets from @babyteethgirl were used in a thread created by X^[3] user @dyingscribe on January 15, which attempted to build evidence that Spitze was allegedly a groomer.

Some, like X^[11] user @GamesNosh on January 17th, 2024, resurfaced a post from /r/Nexpo,^[12] shared on July 25th, 2023, about "Discord and the grooming and extortion cult," centering on groups nicknamed "harm nation, 764, slitbunnies and starved summer." The Redditor also namedropped "Kyle William Spitze" and his Discord name "criminal" (shown below).

They groom these girls, extort them for nudes, cutsigns (having the person cut their name on their arm),make them kill their pets and other animals like birds and mice, drink their own urine and eat their own fesses, etc. These people also enjoy sharing the ridiculous amount of cp, gore, and nazi propaganda they have between their servers and telegram chats. There's hundreds of screenshots of them doing this publicly in their servers, ridiculing the girls after they extort them by leaking their videos/pictures. They've done so much more and there is so much evidence to prove that they've done these horrible things yet they still walk around completely free, some of them having previous charges for sexual misconduct with minor. We are at the point where children have to protect other children from these sick people because authorities refuse to acknowledge this is going on. If you have any information on them, please DM this Reddit account and I will try my best to get back to you quickly, any information is useful Some notable names to avoid that are associated with these groups are: heaven, cynic, Ubay, reginmyre, criminal (Kyle William Spitze), Yuri, neo, godvert, cxrpse, kush, flar, rabid, convict, culprit, keep 101, distraught. In another tweet,^[13] a part of @dyingscribe's thread, the user shared two screenshots of Discord messages with user "criminal," speculated to be Kyle W. Spitze (shown below).

X^[14] user @dyingscribe also shared a link to an /r/confessions^[15] post from June 23rd, 2022, in which the Redditor, OldRain7463, outlined the 764 Discord server that was purportedly known for "grooming minors and making them cut themselves." According to them, the 764 server was repeatedly banned but the admins would always regroup on Telegram.
