About
Kanye's Alleged Nitrous Gas Addiction refers to allegations of malpractice levied against American dental practitioner Dr. Thomas Connelly by Milo Yiannopoulos, Kanye West's (aka Ye) former Chief of Staff. In early August 2024, Yiannopoulos alleged that Ye was being systematically supplied nitrous gas (also known as "laughing gas") by his "celebrity dentist" Thomas Connelly and that Ye had suffered massive brain damage from sustained nitrous gas use. Yiannopoulos also alleged that multiple Ye fan pages were being censored and bought out to stop news about Ye's health issues from spreading and that he had handed over a sworn affidavit about Ye's team and his dentist systemically stealing millions of dollars from him to the FBI and the District Attorney (DA).
Origin
Thomas Connelly is a Beverly Hills and NYC-based dentist best known for working with rappers like Post Malone, DaBaby and Kanye West. In January 2024, Connelly made headlines for making and installing permanent titanium dental prosthetics that cost over $850,000 into Ye's mouth. A RapTV[7] interview with Connelly from February 19th, 2024 gathered over 300,000 views in four months (seen below).
On August 7th, 2024, Milo Yiannopoulos made a series of posts to X / Twitter (seen below),[1] including what he calls a sworn affidavit, in which he alleged that Kanye's (Ye's) "celebrity dentist" Dr. Thomas Connelly has been supplying Ye with nitrous oxide or "laughing gas" to the point where the artist suffered massive brain damage.
Yiannopoulos also alleged that as a result of Ye's depleted mental state, his team has been systemically stealing millions of dollars and plundering his archives for personal gain (shown below). Yiannopoulos placed the blame for Ye's mental deterioration squarely on his dentist Dr. Thomas Connelly, and on Eric Cui, Ye's new Chief of Staff.
Developments
The X[2] account @Kurrco reported on Yiannopoulos's tweets on August 7th, 2024, including his accusations that Ye's personal archives had been "plundered" (seen below, left). @Kurrco also posted an Instagram story from Eric Cui in which he denies all allegations of "enabling" Ye's nitrous oxide use (seen below, right).
According to TMZ,[4] Connelly called Yiannopoulos's allegations "not only factually incorrect but also intentionally misleading."
Online Reactions
Numerous reactions emerged on social media as the news and accusations spread in early August 2024. For example, on August 7th, 2024, X[3] user @WireRacing made a post that read, "Nothing could have prepared me for the Instagram account of Ye’s evil dentist," alongside various images of Thomas Conelly (seen below).
Other internet users expressed incredulity about Yiannopoulos's claims, including X[5] user @IwriteOK, who wrote on August 7th that nitrous oxide is readily and legally available in the U.S. and that Ye doesn't need a dentist to access it. The post gathered over 2,000 likes in a day (seen below, left).
Also in early August 2024, other fans and Redditors on the subreddit /r/GoodAssSub[6] began sharing the hashtag and infographic "#SaveYe," summarizing Yiannopoulos's allegations about Kanye's "Evil Celebrity Dentist". The post gathered over 700 upvotes in a day (seen below, right).
