Overview

Peter Bright's Child Solicitation Arrest refers to the arrest of Ars Technica technology reporter Peter Bright, known on Twitter as @DrPizza, who was charged with one count of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity in late May 2019.

Background

On May 23rd, 2019, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York filed a complaint against Bright, alleging that he had been contacted by an undercover FBI agent on the social media fetish platform KinkD under the handle "randomanon." In the complaint, the agent states they had told Bright they were a 7-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son, and began having sexually explicit conversations on WhatsApp.
