Sebastián Piñera Helicopter Crash refers to the death of former Chile President Sebastián Piñera in a helicopter crash that occurred in a lake near the southern town of Lago Ranco. After his death, Chileans started to share their favorite Piñera memes, viral videos and other memetic content based on the politician to pay homage.

On February 6th, 2024, Chilean ex-President Sebastián Piñera, who served two terms and was also a billionaire businessman, died in a helicopter crash at the age of 74. According to BBC[1], Piñera drowned in a lake near the southern town of Lago Ranco. The news agency Associated Press[2] posted a video (shown below) that day explaining the accident, which received over 23,000 views and 222 likes in a day.

The politician's death inspired netizens to recollect his memorable memes created over the years. Piñera was known for his improvisation in his speeches, leading him to make mistakes and unhappy comments that his opponents called "piñericosas." Until today, these statements have been generating memes in Chile.

Some netizens celebrate the politician’s death using ironic memes and reaction videos, like X[5] user @EliazM's tweet on February 6th, 2024, which shows a woman calling a deceased person a thief and corrupt. The post (shown below) received more than 130,000 views and 5,100 likes in a day.
