About

"The Soddy-Daisy Walmart Raid" is the unofficial name given to the raid coordinated by various users of the meme-sharing app, iFunny. Swarms of users began leaving joke comments and reviews on the Walmart in question, most of which were meme/copypasta related.

Origin

Beginning December 14, 2017, iFunny user Jews wrote the following comment, "We should review every Walmart with one star and 'epic'", on a seemingly unrelated picture on the popular image-sharing app. In reply to this comment, user assman suggested the titular Walmart as a target, stating it was "full of meth heads", effectively commencing the attack on the Soddy-Daisy Walmart's review and Q&A pages.

Spread

Another iFunny user, New_California_Republic, began spreading the word by means of a screenshot, directing users to the targeted Walmart with the caption, "Y'all know what's up". Other users republished this information, spreading like wildfire throughout the app's users. The image received over 60,000 total views, garnering a large amount of attention in a short time span.

Effect

Beginning with a 4.0/5 rating and 432 reviews, the Soddy-Daisy Walmart was rapidly bombarded by hundreds of iFunny users leaving a review containing the word "epic". The attack significantly lowered the store's ratings (well below 3 stars) and resulted in over 1,000 reviews on the Walmart. Its Q&A section did not go untouched, however, and was crammed to the brim with memes and copypastas, some of which the employees of the Walmart participated in. This event inadvertently led to the creation of The Lingerie Copypasta, which filled much of the Walmart's reviews as well as iFunny's comment system for several days.

Several days after the initial attack on the Soddy-Daisy Walmart, the staff began expunging all joke reviews, deleting all but a few that they deemed legitimate (although they were still memes).
