About

The Act Man vs. Quantum TV refers to an ongoing feud between YouTubers The Act Man and Quantum TV surrounding Quantum TV unfairly copyright striking The Act Man, Mischief and several other YouTubers for making critical videos on him using his footage. The copyright strikes resulted in The Act Man and others exposing Quantum TV's alleged homophobic and otherwise problematic past behavior online, resulting in an attempt to get Quantum TV's channel removed for both the abuse of the copyright system and hate speech. In June 2022, YouTube decided not to take action on Quantum TV's channel and demonetized The Act Man's channel, removing him from the partnership program. This was seen by many as YouTube "siding" with Quantum TV unfairly, sparking the "#JusticeForActMan" hashtag.

History

In March 2022, YouTuber Quantum TV posted a video criticizing the video game Elden Ring, telling people "don't buy this game." His main complaints surround the game's difficulty, "toxic fanbase," graphics and frame rate, calling the story "lackluster." The video became the subject of critical responses, many seeing the arguments against the game as invalid. The video has since been removed.

That month, YouTuber[1] Mischief made a response video to Quantum TV's review, calling him out for having a "bad take" on Elden Ring (shown below, left, reuploaded). On March 15th, Mischief posted a video to YouTube[2] (shown below) titled, "QUANTUM TV – Copyright Abuser AND Fat Shamer," explaining how Quantum TV falsely copyright struck his video for using Quantum TV's footage. In the video, Mischief shares a number of comments Quantum TV made under the video response demanding Mischief remove his footage from the video and claiming it's a violation of YouTube's TOS to download another creator's clips using third-party software. Mischief refutes these claims. He also claims Quantum TV told Elden Rings players to kill themselves. Quantum TV posted and deleted a response to the video claiming Mischief used too much of his video. Mischief also responds to this, claiming Quantum TV used bad sources to defend his stance.

Mischief exposed Quantum TV's past homophobic, bigotted and otherwise hateful past online content in numerous posts on YouTube and Twitter that month. On March 16th, Wordpress[21] user lucien0maverick posed an article sharing several now-deleted homophobic tweets from Quantum TV, including a comment Quantum TV purportedly made wishing the creators of The Last Of Us 2 were victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting. On March 20th, Mischief posted a video to YouTube showing evidence of Quantum TV's alleged homophobia online, including numerous homophobic tweets and posts on social media (shown below).

On April 10th, 2022, YouTuber[3] The Act Man uploaded a video titled "The WORST Elden Ring Hot Takes" where he reacts to Quantum TVs review and the copyright strike drama between Quantum and Mischief. The video gained over 1.9 million views in two months.

On April 19th, The Act Man posted a tweet[4] sharing a copyright strike form against his video filed by Quantum TV (shown below). In the tweet, he writes, "Unfortunately for him, YouTube actually knows what Fair Use is and rejected his takedown request," gaining over 10,000 likes in two months (shown below, left). That same day, The Act Man tweeted[5] a comment by Quantum TV suggesting he's seeking "other options" to deal with The Act Man's alleged copyright abuse (shown below, right).

QUANTUM TV 4 hours ago (edited) @The Act Man It was YouTube support who recommended I copyright claim your video, because you re-uploaded clips of my original deleted video, long after I deleted it from my channel. Naturally that means it was piracy and could be copyright claimed by the original owner, or so they claimed. Afterall, how else does one upload another users content long after they erase it? I gave em a scolding for bad advice, and will seek other options against your piracy of my content. Show less you realize following YouTube support advice on copyright claims to remove reuploads failed me, and as a result im being labeled as a copyright abuser right? 9:06 A S + 26 That I cannot answer for now. 9:06 AM 4 C

The Act Man tweeted[6] a screenshot of DMs between the two of them later that day where Quantum TV claims using his deleted video footage from the review constitutes piracy (shown below).

Quantum TV Today at 2:38 PM since you can't speak, here's your situation. You stole a deleted copyrighted video. I don't care about your opinion on my take, and definitely don't care about your empty threats regarding things none of you understand. I do care about you re-uploading stolen content you aquired from mischief. if this is your livelihood, you should know the copyright starts the moment a body of work is published. you didn't have permission to post my removed content. as the owner, I would like the copyrighted videos removed. thats why im looking into other options against your piracy. Like I've said, YouTube support advised me that filing a copyright claim against you, was the best way to remove the re-uploaded content. its not a false flag, its a youtube support recommendation. I'm exploring all options against your behavior here. if you're a professional act like it. if this is your livelihood, protect it. you may be used to stealing from others, but I will fight you on this. especially since I hold a legitimate federal copyright lol. If I don't want my work published, you have no legal rights to my work. seeing how you file shared my deleted video, you took a huge risk. The Act Man Today at 2:38 PM ** April 19, 2022

On April 20th, YouTuber[7] SomeOrdinaryGamers posted a video about the drama, Quantum TV's abuses of YouTube's copyright system and defending The Act Man, gaining over 600,000 views in two months (shown below). On April 21st, The Act Man tweeted[8] hypothesizing that Quantum TV committed perjury by filing the false claim.

On the same day, The Act Man tweeted[9] an alleged Discord message posted by Quantum TV that March making several homophobic remarks and claiming some YouTube tech reviewers are "satanists," gaining over 11,000 likes in two months (shown below).

Quantum TV 03/24/2022 I just wanna thank everyone for sticking with me. It's obvious most of these other reviewers like Stop the Fomo, Digital Trends, and HDTV Test are just satanist in disguise. Every time I've seen one of their videos you can tell they are trying to brain wash the masses into their gay liberal satanic atheist agenda. One minute someone could be watching Stop the Fomo, and the next minute they start having a--- sex with their dads, doing coke and trying to conjure demons with satanic rituals. Satanic influence isn't a joke. It was obvious already when Stop the Fomo ended up using the Lucifer logo to praise Satan and claimed he was just "testing for blooming". God I hate atheist with their satanic rituals. Every one of these people are going to hell and suffer for eternity. They need an ass kicking from some christians. Also all the troll comments from satanic atheist are getting banned. All the satanic gay atheist people accusing me of being a coward for deleting my video, I only had to delete them because of YouTubers gay agendalnstead of people getting upset at me, why don't they just let me be? Because they are heterophobic anti-christian pieces of s---. I don't want to participate in the a--- sex the liberal people tell me to. Remember to stay strong in the faith of Christ who died for our sins. God loves you and love will prosper. At Posted in r/OLED_Gaming by u/Fearless_Bowl_8992 reddit

This is so bizarre. You'd think the optics alone would make YouTube side with Act Man, since he's calling out some really insane homophobia during pride month.

Whatever you think of pride month or wokeness or whatever, it's Youtube's entire fucking image. How do you change your logo to a rainbow flag, flood the home page with drag queens, and "celebrate LGBT perspectives" while also keeping on a scammer and copyright abuser who wants gay people to die in mass shootings?

But no. Instead, they demonetize Act Man, and keep Quantum's channel completely untouched. Exactly whose dick is Quantum sucking to get this level of preferential treatment?

Latest from Youtube: They took this action against Actman because he made joking tweets saying "Maybe I should dox some Youtube employees because apparently Youtube is ok with this behavior", referring to Quantum TV's constant doxxing and phone calling of people who piss him off. They claimed this was "calling for harrasment of youtube employees".

Also I think Youtube got salty because Actman named two Youtube employees (public figures) who were going over the Youtube TOS and guidelines, showing that by letting QuantumTV stay on Youtube they were ignoring their own TOS and guidelines.

As we've seen with Mumkey Jones, Youtube will not back down when they take a creator down like this. It was a sniper shot because he personally stepped on their toes and they aren't going to let that go, as unfair as their bullshit platform is.

I'm with conservatives on the fact that there needs to some kind of public square laws put into place to regulate big tech platforms that have ungodly amounts of power to destroy the voices of those they choose to go after, Thanos snapping fuckers just because they feel salty about it. If a certain platform has like 90% of the market share on that social media vector (Youtube, Twitter) there needs to some kind of oversight other than just the employees saying "we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing".
