In 2009 Akai Professional released a controller interface for live electronic music performance with the software Ableton Live. This is a meme about that product: the APC40.
An Ableton forum user called djsynchro jokingly posted the question which famous people would/could/should use an APC40, accompanied by a picture of Kim Jong-il
Of course, somebody had to photoshop the APC40 in the picture. But after that many more edited images followed.
Soon several blogs noticed the thread and made an announcement about it. For example a well known and visited blog Create Digital Music
CDM: "I really have no words for this one, other than there’s a hilarious APC40 meme happening on the Ableton forums. Is it love? Disdain? The APC as the new “All Your Base” for the Live warping set? Does it really matter? It’s good to know that, even as Ableton Live use has spread, us computer music folk are really not normal."
