Fixing Things With Ramen are a series of do it yourself (DIY) videos in which people uses ramen noodles and glue to repair the surfaces of tables, sinks and cars.

Origin

On November 24th, 2018, Redditor sirmakoto uploaded a video to r/interestingasfuck[1] of someone repairing a burnt table using ramen (shown below). The post gained over 77,400 points (90% upvoted) and over 1,600 comments in six months.

Spread

On May 1st, 2019, Redditor a0000100s uploaded a video to r/wtf[3] of people repairing furniture items with food which gained over 13,400 points (86% upvoted) in three weeks. On May 8th, a similar compilation video was uploaded to YouTube by Asia Tik Tok (shown below). The video gained over 11,600 views in two weeks.

On May 13th, 2019, Redditor u/sohrabhamza shared Douyin user Xiubandrng[2]2 video of someone repairing a sink with ramen to r/diwhy[4] (shown below, left). The post gained over 38,100 points (94% upvoted) in two weeks. That same day, u/imthewiseguy posted another one of Xiubandrng's ramen repair videos to r/diwhy (shown below, right). The post garnered over 19,800 points (93% upvoted) in two weeks.

On May 14th, Twitter user @riamichaelss shared the sink repair video which accumulated over 218,700 likes in a week (shown below). The videos passed through Instagram as well. On May 15th, Instagram user grandmas.butthole[5] posted the sink repair video which gained over 196,000 views in a week. Several days later, Instagram user crack.less[6] posted the car repair video which accumulated over 3,800 views in a week.
