Flying Adam Warlock refers to a video of Marvel character Adam Warlock (played by actor Will Poulter) flying towards the viewer as "Crazy on You" by Heart plays in the 2023 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In early May 2023, the scene gained virality on TikTok as a video caption meme format.

Origin

On May 5th, 2023, the Marvel superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premiered in the United States.[1] In the movie, the superhero character Adam Warlock, portrayed by Will Poulter, is introduced. The gold-colored character's first appearance is him flying through space in a resolute manner as the song "Crazy on You" by the rock band Heart plays.

On May 6th, 2023, YouTube[2] user Smashzilla uploaded the earliest found video caption meme using the video (shown below). The upload gained over 23,000 views in 12 days (seen below).



On May 8th, 2023, TikToker[3] @juhnnyondabeatsoitsnice uploaded a meme based on the scene that gained over 1.8 million views and 291,000 likes in 10 days (shown below).

In the following days, the video caption format achieved major virality on TikTok. For example, on May 9th, 2023, TikToker[4] @hzjoe posted a version that gained over 586,000 views and 89,000 likes in nine days (shown below, left). On May 10th, TikToker[5] @justashelfthesecond then posted a meme that received over 2.6 million views and 559,000 likes in eight days (shown below, right).

For example, on May 12th, TikToker[6] dankusama0.0 uploaded a video of himself lying down on a skateboard that garnered over 1.2 million views and 245,000 likes in five days. Also that day, TikToker[7] @care_wad posted a video of a fish chasing bait set to "Crazy on You" that received over 9 million views and 1.8 million likes in that same period (shown below, right).
