About

"Four Naan, Jeremy? That's Insane!" is a quote from the British sitcom Peep Show , from an episode where main characters Mark and Jeremy go to an Indian restaurant. The quote has found widespread use through snowclones , changing the number, the item, the person who has them, or a combination of the three.

Origin

The quote originates from "Jeremy Makes It", the second episode of Season 2 of Peep Show. In the episode, Mark has cancelled Jeremy's order of 3 pilau rice and 3 peshwari naan. When Jeremy learns this, he places the order again, and adds an extra naan in protest, causing Mark to say the line.

The earliest known snowclone of the quote is from Twitter user @elle_mu, who mentioned the line on October 19, 2009.[1]

Spread

When a Peep Show-based Twitter account tweeted the quote in 2018, the tweet received over 1,000 retweets and 4,000 likes.[2]

In 2020, a Prequel Meme combining the line and Hello There became the highest-rated post on the Mitchell and Webb subreddit, with over 1,200 upvotes.[3]
