Get Somebody Else To Do It refers to a viral video of a woman asking her grandmother to record her in public and her grandmother refusing, saying, "get somebody else to do it." The video was originally uploaded to TikTok in October 2022 and went viral over the following months as the source of lip dub skits where one person refuses to do something for another.
Origin
On October 2nd, 2022, TikToker[1] @d.iavion posted a video captioned, "Y’all see how my own granny do me," where she approaches an older woman in a store, assumedly her grandmother and asks if she'll record her real quick. The woman refuses, saying, "get somebody else to do it." The TikToker tells her it's for an audition and she still refuses. The video gained over 14 million views in two months (shown below).

The video's original sound became popular over the following weeks as a source of lip dubs skits involving jokes about someone refusing to do something. On October 8th, 2022, TikToker[2] @glxxmike posted a video to the sound that garnered over 6.2 million views in two months (shown below, left). On October 17th, TikToker[3] @skaijackson posted a video to the sound, garnering over 8.4 million views in a similar span of time (shown below, right). On November 16th, Dexerto[4] published an article about the trend.
