Gyoza Maker Fail Video refers to a viral video of a machine designed to help press gyoza dumplings repeatedly failing to do so, causing the person filming to repeatedly smack the machine and knock it away. The fail clip spread widely on Twitter / X in mid-April 2024 where users made jokes comparing the video to times when a person tries repeatedly to execute something but fails.

On April 13th, 2024, Twitter user @OKA_NO_KAIZOKU[1] posted a video in which a grey plastic machine intended to press dumpling wrappers repeatedly fails to do so, causing the person filming to smack the machine over after each attempt. The video gained over 55,000 retweets and 181,000 likes in two days (shown below).

As the video spread, many on Twitter joked about the machine's inability to perform its one function. On April 14th, 2024, Twitter user @tristan_snipes[2] joked, "If you think you're useless in life, remember that this thing exists," gaining over 400 retweets and 4,500 likes in one day (shown below, left). The same day, user @yumipill[3] joked about the "most useless invention" being even more useless than initially thought, gaining over 50 likes in one day (shown below, right).

Others joked about how the video of the machine felt relatable to instances where they repeatedly failed at performing a task. For example, on April 14th, Twitter user @femboy_fighting[4] joked that the video was "what labbing in a fighting game feels like," gaining over 2,000 retweets and 12,000 likes in one day (shown below, left). The same day, user @calebyen[5] posted a joke saying the video reminded them of how they live their lives, but they're the "dumpling" machine, gaining over 90 retweets and 1,100 likes in one day (shown below, right).
