About

”HEAA Kid” is the nickname given to a young boy who is shown mimicking the act of intercourse in a video uploaded to YouTube in September 2014. After almost two years of latency on YouTube, the video eventually went viral in April 2016 after an abridged version of the clip entered circulation on Vine, where it became used as a popular audio sample for audio-spliced remixes and mashups.

Origin

On September 24th, 2014, YouTuber TheCodHub uploaded a video clip that shows a young boy having a conversation with an older friend, who remains unseen behind the camera. The video begins with the cameraman taunting the boy for his lack of sexual experience with women, to which the boy responds by saying "nigga, I fuck this bitch last night though" and proceeds to repeatedly slap his thighs with his hands in a thrusting motion, as to imitate the gestures and sounds of someone having sex.

When asked by the cameraman about the name of the woman he claims to have had sex with, the boy suddenly lets out a high-pitched yelp that can be transcribed as "HEAA!"

Spread

On February 7th, 2016, Viner StuffKyle posted an abridged version of the original video from YouTube to Vine (shown below, left), where it garnered more than 3 million loops and 56,000 likes in just over four months. On May 1st, Viner JumbodelRay uploaded a remix clip combining the chorus from the song "Lean On" by Major Lazer and DJ Snake with HEAA Kid's soundbite, which gained more than 1.6 million loops and 45,000 likes in just over a month (shown below, right).

On April 24th, Viner Josh Burke posted a remix clip combining the song "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. and the "HEAA" soundbite, which accrued over 570,000 loops and 14,000 likes within the first two months (shown below, left). On April 29th, Viner viral shark media posted a remix clip combining the song "Meeting in My Bedroom" by Silk with the "HEAA" soundbite. The clip gained more than 500,000 loops and 15,000 likes in a month and a half (shown below, right).

Various Examples

Between April and June 2016, more than 170 remixes and derivatives videos sampling the soundbite were uploaded to Vine with the hashtags #HEAA[3] and #HEAAAA[4], as well as a number of extended compilation videos on YouTube.
