Heaviest Objects in the Universe is an image macro series featuring an exploitable chart comparing the mass of the sun, neutron stars, black holes to a mock 4th example, which typically play on a colloquial definition of "heavy" as something that carries great emotional weight.
Origin
On March 6th, 2016, Imgur[7] user ThisIsGerbilReportingLiveFromRichardSimmons uploaded a photoshopped chart comparing the mass of several objects in space to a picture of a woman labeled "Yo Mama" (shown below). Within one year, the image gained over 132,000 views and 1,800 points.
Spread
On July 4th, 2016, FunnyJunk[6] user baebee uploaded a similar Your Mom Joke-themed chart was posted to , receiving more than 29,000 views and 870 upvotes over the next eight months (shown below).
On December 9th, 2016, Redditor imtiredfam posted a version of the chart ranking "my love for my gf" as the heaviest object to /r/wholesomememes,[3] where it received more than 1,900 votes (98% upvoted) and 40 comments within three months (shown below, left). On December 19th, 2016, Redditor shadowbranch posted a photoshopped chart featuring a description of a memorable scene from Futurama in which the dog Seymour waits for Fry over the course of many years (shown below, right). Over the next three months, the post gained over 20,200 votes (85% upvoted) and 230 comments on /r/futurama/[1]
On January 9th, 2017, Redditor VacuumForEsports submitted a version of the chart featuring a joke about a scene from The Last Airbender (shown below, left). Within two months, the post garnered upwards of 17,200 votes (83% upvoted) and 180 comments on /r/TheLastAirbender.[2] Meanwhile, Redditor nyyjeter88 submitted a post claiming that the meme was "undervalued" to /r/MemeEconomy.[4] On January 25th, the @AsapScience[8] Twitter feed posted a version of the image edited with "My Failures" as the heaviest object in the universe (shown below, right).
