Hey, Vsauce Michael Here. Your Home Security Is Great. Or Is It? is a viral audio clip of someone impersonating Michael Stevens from Vsauce and saying the line, "Hey, Vsauce Michael here. Your home security is great. Or is it?" The audio is inspired by a voiced-over version of a 2021 Vsauce Michael Staring image macro that was posted to YouTube in late 2022, inspiring several viral animations and edits also voicing over the meme, often in a horror context, as if Michael has broken into someone's home.

Origin

On March 1st, 2021, Redditor u/Bag_of_toxic_waste posted an image macro to /r/memes[1] using the Vsauce staring format captioned, "Hey, Vsauce Michael here. Your home security is great. Or is it?" garnering over 32,100 upvotes in two years (shown below). The meme gained viral spread and was uploaded to YouTube[2] as a video set to music by Wq022 on August 14th, garnering over 70,000 views in two years.

On December 3rd, 2022, YouTuber[3] DrUnique posted a voiced-over version of the meme, garnering over 1.2 million views in a year (shown below).



Spread

The audio clip of the Michael impersonator saying the line spread over the following months through further fan edits and animations, also inspiring other voice overs. For example, on June 22nd, 2023, YouTuber[4] Mayrinae posted a new voiceover of the meme that gained over 860,000 views in five months (shown below, left). On September 6th, YouTuber[5] GelNox posted a version of the meme replacing "home" with "submarine," garnering over a million views in two months (shown below, right).



On November 19th, YouTuber[6] AnonymousMike posted an original animation based on the meme, garnering over 300,000 views in two days (shown below).

Vsauce Michael Staring is a low-res picture posted to Reddit of a man who looks like, or is, Michael from the well-known YouTube channel Vsauce staring up at a CCTV camera on the ceiling. The image has been used as an exploitable image macro in memes with variations of Michael's signature catchphrase and video opening being used as punchlines.
