Hot Diggity Dog, This Place Is Magnificent! is a line spoken by the villain Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) from The Walking Dead TV series. After appearing in the show back in 2016, the scene has since gone viral both for its exaggerated zoom-out shot and then later as a catchphrase and exploitable on TikTok and YouTube in which people would edit Negan into other scenes delivering the line. It is also used as a simple video and GIF caption format with the original, unedited scene from TWD in memes.

Origin

The scene originally appears in The Walking Dead season seven, episode four (titled "Service"), which aired on November 13th, 2016 (shown below).^[1]

After Negan says the line, the camera dramatically zooms out, which was quickly parodied by Walking Dead fans. On November 26th, 2016, YouTuber MemeHub posted an edit where the camera continues zooming back into outer space, gaining over 48,000 views in six years (shown below).

Spread

For the following several years, the zoom-out remained a humorous reference among The Walking Dead fans.^[2] However, in late 2022, the scene began growing popular on TikTok and YouTube as a reaction clip and exploitable video in captioned memes. On December 10th, 2022, TikToker @colbyyylee posted the scene with a humorous caption, gaining over 677,000 likes in three months (shown below, left). On January 27th, 2023, TikToker Byrusthevyrus used it as a sound joking about The Last of Us, gaining over 6,000 likes in six weeks (shown below, right).

Prominent exploitable examples include a February 7th, 2023, post by TikToker @conr16 that gained over 997,000 likes in one month (shown below, left). On March 13th, TikToker @theodoasis posted another example that gained over 334,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).
