About
The How Insecure Are You Trend, also known as Jars of Insecurities or Hearts of Happiness, is a TikTok trend where users color in several exploitable charts to reveal their insecurities and anxieties in order to share how insecure they are. The trend became popularized on TikTok throughout the second half of 2022.
Origin
On September 26th, 2021, TikToker[1] @qlvvy_ posted a chart labeled "How insecure are you," showing an outline of a human with the majority of the body colored red and the breasts, arms and feet colored in yellow. A key to the right of the chart shares the meanings of the colors: red means "extremely" insecure, yellow "a little," orange "yes," green "not at all" and blue "definitely not." She posted the blank chart to her Pinterest[2] account that day (shown below).
On March 15th, 2022, Twitter[3] user @hayam_yousif posted a filled in and blank template for a similar chart called "jars of insecurities," where 12 jars labeled with a different insecurity are shown and the user is meant to fill them in to the level they're insecure about the given topic (shown below, left). Around the same time, Pinterest[4] user Chrysmaizelle uploaded a similar chart labeled "Hearts of Happiness" where the participant is meant to fill in hearts labeled with family members and significant others to the level they love the given person (shown below, right).
Throughout 2021 and 2022, TikTokers started to use these charts, along with one labeled "touch meme," sometimes combined and sometimes on their own, to share their insecurities with others. For example, on May 25th, 2021, TikToker[5] @inanotherlife____ posted a video filling in the "how insecure are you" chart, garnering over 310,000 views in a year (shown below).

Spread
The trend remained popular on TikTok throughout 2021 and 2022 as users uploaded videos filling in the various charts, sometimes in a single compilation video and sometimes on their own (examples shown below).
