I AM THE KING OF SPACE refers to a copypasta often accompanied by a UNITIИU-style mirror image of a tennis player about to get hit in the face with a ball. Since the original copypasta included "GREETINGS 4CHONS," when it is translated to other websites, "4CHONS" is replaced with the name of the site or the name for the fandom the site is related to.

Origin

The original photo of French tennis player Nicolas Escudé was taken by Reuters photographer Jeff J. Mitchell^[1] during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on June 26th, 2003. Several years later on January 23rd, 2007, an anonymous 4chan user posted several mirrored versions of the original photo to the /b/ (random) board, with each zooming closer to Escudé's face. The photos were paired with a copypasta, which asserted that the man was the king of space.

On April 10th, 2007, the phrase appeared on the autism community website WrongPlanet.net^[3], in a forum post titled "Greetings Aspies, I am the King of Space." The following year, the copypasta was included in a 4chan thread titled "Sing-Along"^[4], in which anons compiled songs featuring popular memes from the site. Between 2009 and 2012, the copypasta had been referenced on a variety of web forums and humor sites including GameMaker3D^[5], Destructoid^[6], nonsense wiki Illogicopedia^[7], FunnyJunk^[8], the Flat Earth Forums^[9], Rapture General Forum^[10], the Battlefield 3 Forums^[11] and the Sucker Punch forums.^[12]
