I don’t really want to show off, but mom bought flypaper for flies. (рус. Не очень хочу хвастатья, но мама купила липучку для мух) is a popular Internet meme in Russia. It is based on a photograph of a teenager (nickname Nikita Shrekin), pointing his thumb at a new flypaper for flies. Initially, this meme ridiculed a man who brags about his things. Subsequently, the meme began to be used in comic situations, when something looks like Velcro for flies. Or when a person just wants to show off something significant or insignificant.

On August 18, 2019, Nikita Shrekin was photographed, made an inscription and sent this joke to his friends. On August 23, 2019, this meme appeared in the public “кхе-кхе” on the social network VKontakte, after which it appeared in different variations in this public, and then gained popularity outside this public.
