About

I Need A Rich Bitch, continued Scratch That, Need A Thick Bitch, refers to a dance trend on TikTok set to "Rich" by Big Yavo in which the dancer mimics making it rain, turns around and twerks, then pumps their arms in the air. The dance started around June 2021, becoming increasingly popular over the course of the month. Notably, it was performed by TikToker Addison Rae in late June.

Origin

On April 9th, 2021, rapper Big Yavo released the song "Rich."[3] It is unknown who started the "Rich Bitch" dance trend. One of the earliest popular examples of the dance was uploaded to TikTok[2] on June 14th by @bxddy.malkah, garnering over 1.7 million views in two weeks (shown below). The dance is performed by acting out making it rain with money, turning and twerking, then turning again and pumping your arms in the air.

Spread

The dance spread steadily over the course of the month. In some variations, a boy will stand in front of a female dancer and twerk in front of them, blocking the girl twerking. For example, on June 20th, TikToker[4] @adryanne.richards posted a video doing the dance like this, garnering over 4 million views in just over a week (shown below).
