I Quickly Became Homophobic is a catchphrase referring to a viral video where YouTuber Karim Jovian describes how he became homophobic due to being surrounded by homophobia in his everyday life and how he learned to accept the LGBTQ+ community after befriending gay people in college. On August 30th, 2016, YouTuber[1] storybooth posted a video where YouTuber Karim Jovian tells a story about being homophobic in high school as a result of everyone around him also being homophobic. At the start of the video, he says, "Being exposed to all of the hate towards the gay community, I quickly became homophobic. Hating on gay people became part of my lifestyle." He then goes on to explain how he overcame his homophobia when he went to college and started befriending gay people and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The video (shown below) gained over 7.9 million views in seven years.

On February 16th, 2021, YouTuber[2] notsql posted an edit of a scene in the video, garnering over 800,000 views in two years (shown below, left). On November 23rd, YouTuber[3] shandzii posted an original Arcane animation using the line of dialogue, garnering over 2.6 million views in two years (shown below, right). On October 21st, 2022, YouTuber[4] Dann posted a similar animation, garnering over 17,000 views in six months,

On November 1st, TikToker[5] @dummy_dump_truck posted a wenomechainasama style meme using the audio clip, garnering over 41,000 views in five months (shown below, left). On March 23rd, 2023, TikToker[6] @ryurinsolos posted a similar meme, garnering over 80,000 views in a month (shown below, right).
