Indonesian Microceleb Persecution refers to a viral video of Indonesian micro celebrity Muchammad Abdurohim, who was ridiculed for his religion by Andrian Putra and in the video is dressed like Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders. The video of the pair meeting each other became the subject of memes and redraws.

Origin

On June 8th, 2023, Facebook user Andrian Putra uploaded a one-hour livestream of himself dressing like Thomas Shelby, planning to meet Facebook micro-celebrity Muchammad Abdurohim after Abdurohim insulted his religion on his Facebook account. In the video, both of them meet each other in an unevenful stream, after which, Abdurochim signs a letter that says he won't insult Putra's religion agai. The video was deleted, but on the same day, Facebook^[1] user Alvian Ferdiansyah Kecoud reposted it an archived version of it and received more than 5,200 reactions and more than 3,400 shares in one week (shown below).

Hours later, the clip of the two meeting each other became the subject of memes. For example, on June 8th, 2023, Facebook^[2] user Zerotsu Zerotsu uploaded a Bocchi the Rock! edit referencing to the livestream, receiving 123 reactions and 70 shares (shown below, left). On the same day, Facebook^[3] user Riko uploaded a Three-Headed Dragon edit comparing it to other infamous "persecution" videos. The post received more than 2,100 reactions and 1,700 shares (shown below, right).

On June 8th, 2023, Facebook^[4] user Dawny Candra uploaded a redraw of an "Emuach" meme. The post received more than 6,400 reactions and 1,400 shares (shown below, left). On the next day, the game Revelation: Infinite Journey posted an edit from their official Facebook^[5] page using the ripper from their game as a reference. The post received more than 1,400 reactions and 904 shares (shown below, right).

Putra's dress also became subject of memes, and revived "Thomas Shelby" edits. For example, on June 8th, 2023, Facebook^[6] user ZuMept uploaded to the "Gamers FriFair : 1001 Cara menjadi Proplayer" group a Nerd Emoji edit of a character from the game Free Fire, comparing it with Putra's outfit. The post received more than 7,000 reactions and 915 shares (shown below, left). On the next day, Facebook^[7] page "Keluh Kesah Desainer Grafis" uploaded an Expectation vs. Reality edit comparing the original Thomas Shelby and Andrian Putra. The post received more than 3,300 reactions and 757 shares (shown below, right).
