About
Is This Carousel? is a meme that became popular to Linkin Park fans when Dave Farrell, bass player from Linkin Park, said the phrase “Is this Carousel?” when the performance of "And One" happened from their reaction to their February 1st, 2001 show at Canes Bar and Grill in San Diego, California.
Origin
On March 24, 2020, Linkin Park (Mike, Dave, and Joe) reacted to the (previously unreleased) San Diego 2001 show stream on YouTube. When the performance of "And One" happened, all three band members did not know the name of the song and spent the next few minutes guessing at what it could be. Due to Dave asking, "Is this Carousel?", the phrase instantly became a sensational meme for Linkin Park fans. Due to this, on April 20, 2020 when the individual songs were being uploaded to YouTube, Linkin Park promoted the "And One" video on social media by saying, "Is This Carousel? Head over to YouTube to find out." In August 2020, on Linkin Park's website, when they were building up the Hybrid Theory 20 campaign, they put in a little easter egg concerning this meme. If you press the "Start" button with the old style 2000 LP logo, then press "Settings", then after that, press "System Properties", then, once it loads, press the "File System" button that's next to the "Graphic's button, then after that, press "Trouble Shooting", then 4 different troubleshooting buttons show up. Among those 4, at the bottom, below the above 3, says the phrase "Determining if this is Carousel". If you press the trouble shooting phrase, it will bring you to a link, specifically the same "And One" performance that they from reacted to from their February 1st, 2001 show at Canes Bar and Grill in San Diego, California.
