The bureaucrat's LinkedIn account indicates that she has over two decades of experience working in federal offices in Washington, D.C.

On October 5th, 2025, news website Antipolygraph[1] published an article about how DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was creating a department-wide polygraph screening program that would include questions about whether employees were leaking information to the media or any non-profits. The article included a photo of Iwona B. Horyn, who was identified as a career DHS security official who was the acting Chief Security Officer at the time, according to the DHS website.
