Jack Sparrow Run refers to a specific run that Johnny Depp's character Jack Sparrow does in the Pirates of the Caribbean films where he flails his arms wildly to the side as he runs. The run inspired an internet challenge on TikTok in May 2022 during the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp trial where users imitate the run in videos.

Origin

In the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Jack Sparrow often frantically runs with his arms flailing to the side. The most notable example comes from the second film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, released on June 16th, 2006, where Sparrow runs away from a group of cannibals chasing him (shown below).



On April 28th, 2022, TikToker[1] @mattscharff posted a video where two people do their best Jack Sparrow runs, asking viewers to decide who's run is better, gaining over 3 million views in two weeks (shown below).

Over the course of May 2022, TikTokers continued to upload videos doing their best Jack Sparrow runs, often asking viewers to rate their runs. On April 30th, TikToker[2] @chrelroy posted a video where several men do their best runs, gaining over 374,000 views in just over a week (shown below, left). On the same day, TikToker[5] @bikinibottombtchx posted a similar video, gaining over 6.3 million views in just over a week (shown below, right).

On May 1st, TikToker[3] @thecordlefamily posted a video where several women do the challenge, gaining over 645,000 views in just over a week (shown below).
