KYS Pedo or Kill Yourself Pedophile is a common antagonistic rhetoric used against perceived pedophiles by users on 4chan and other imageboards, more often than not utilized with little to no accompanying text. It is most commonly used as a reply to a user that has posted lolicon imagery, erotic or otherwise, though it can often be posted to bait reactions out of other users, regardless of if the user being replied to has posted loli.

Origin

Though the words and the phrase aren't unique, the phrase saw a particular trend of usage on 4chan in the late 2010s. From 2016 to 2017,^[1] there are 22 hits on 4chan for the phrase. From 2017 to 2018,^[2] there are 62 results. The number jumps to 7,151 results from 2021 to 2022."^[3]

Spread

After users began to take notice of the meme appearing more frequently across 4chan, various anonymous users have been producing pictures in mockery of those that post it. In one instance, the images argue posters of the phrase are visitors from other websites, who are not acclimated with the posting culture of 4chan, thusly easily offended when seeing lolicon imagery normally frowned upon on their origin websites (examples shown below).

Stick-chan & Friends

The idea of an outsider using the phrase led to the creation of the character "Stick-chan," a stick figure drawing of an angry, blonde-haired girl character in pigtails (often drawn in ms paint) as the culprit behind the posts. She is marked by her aggressive resentment and death threats against "pedos," and is intended to emasculate posters of the phrase. She first appeared in January 2021,^[4] posted by an anonymous user in reply to a thread on /v/ (shown below, left).

Following Stick-chan, several variations on the character have appeared, including choco-chan, Ginger-chan, and Shy-chan (shown left-to-right).

Other phrases used in the meme include "nys, pedo" (neck yourself), "die, pedo," and "day of the rope soon, pedos."
