La Decepción, La Traición Hermano or The Deception, The Betrayal in English, refers to a phrase said by the Terry Crews who plays Latrell, in the White Chicks movie. The scene inspired image macro memes and reaction GIFs on social media.

Origin

On June 23rd, 2004, White Chicks^[1] was released in theatres worldwide. In one scene, Latrell is shot while trying to protect one of the twin sisters and he finds out they are undercover cops the whole time. After that, Terry Crews' character says the line "oh, the deception, the betrayal." @garmmer^[2] uploaded the scene on YouTube On August 16th, 2006, garnering 1,7 million views and 13,000 likes in 17 years. Spread

The Spanish dubbed version of the White Chicks movie had a great share of fans in Latin America in the 2000s. The dubbed scene in which Terry Crews' character is shot was also uploaded on YouTube on September 22nd, 2009, by @Suek10^[3], receiving 474,000 views and 4,900 likes in 13 years. (see below).

The phrase said by Terry Crews' character was turned into a catchphrase meme on Facebook, with @Tony.el.^[4] Ingeniero was one of the first people to use it to comment on a different meme about calculators giving different answers. The post received two likes and one share since it was uploaded on June 12th, 2015. (see below)

In 2017 the scene resurfaced on social media, being used as image macro memes for scenarios involving getting tricked or betrayed. For instance, Twitter user @elcosodelapizza^[5] posted Latrell's image with a caption about a situation where you lost a friend and finds them hanging out with other people. The tweet garnered 4,700 likes and 1,987 retweets since it was uploaded on October 29th, 2017.
