Leafy 2023 Face Reveal, also known as LeafyIsHere 2023 Face Reveal or Fat Leafy, refers to a series of selfies posted to Instagram and Twitter by former YouTuber LeafyIsHere, which revealed his face for the first time in 2023. The photos (mostly taken on an airplane) led to viral discourse and memes that spread across social media in August 2023, with many commenting on the images and noting that it appeared he had gained weight.
Origin
On August 3rd, 2023, LeafyIsHere posted a selfie from an airplane to his Instagram Story that he later tweeted[1] on August 4th, showing a red text caption about a bathroom situation (shown below, left). In the tweet, he captioned the image, "I'm not fat lmfao but yes shit got wild after 4 bans ahahahaha I'm on plane rn," gaining over 4,700 likes two days. On August 6th, Leafy posted another selfie to Twitter[2] in a QRT, captioning it, "leafy reveals his face for the second time in 2023," gaining over 12,600 likes in one day (shown below).

One of the first viral reactions to Leafy's face reveal was tweeted[3] by the account @ImagesOOC. It was a video that used the Do You Think This Guy Had a Glow Up Or a Glow Down? format, gaining roughly 13,300 likes in four days (shown below).

One of the first viral reactions to Leafy's 2023 face reveal was posted to Twitter[4] by Keffals on August 4th, 2023, who related it to Twink Death, gaining over 6,700 likes in three days (shown below, left).
On August 5th, YouTuber Twomad tweeted[5] a 2023 photo of Leafy, writing, "The fact this was actually found in the Mario 64 Source code Is fucking unsettling," gaining over 66,000 likes in two days (shown below, right). The image Twomad posted was seemingly AI-expanded by AI art tools, as pointed out by Twitter[8] user @calebBTI who highlighted an "AI drawing hands" error.
One of Leafy's face reveal selfies was notably reposted by the Twitter[6] account of Dexerto on August 4th, gaining roughly 76,400 likes in two days. It ultimately inspired the posting of Leafy's second face reveal QRT.[2] Leafy's 2023 face reveal also gained virality on TikTok.[7]
