Lesbians Lost refers to posts which claim that homosexual women are missing out on being attracted to men and feature an image or a video of a man the poster thinks is attractive to back up the claim. However, in most instances when tweets like these get popular, other users comment that the featured man is not attractive and instead post pictures of women they believe are attractive.

Origin

The first tweet to spark backlash by positing "lesbians lost" appears to have been posted by Twitter user @imirritating in late April of 2020. Instagram user unraveledfame^[5] reposted the tweet on April 26th (shown below).

The post sparked several popular rebuttals and K-Pop Fancam Replies on Twitter. For example, on April 24th, 2020, Twitter user @lovelltrin^[1] quote-tweeted the tweet, writing "lesbians never lose," gaining over 10,000 retweets and 99,000 likes (shown below).

Spread

The post led to some mockery over the following weeks. For example, Twitter user @astrologydyke^[2] posted joking that "lesbians lost" tweets use pictures of men who look like they're from Facade, gaining over 50 retweets and 300 likes (shown below, left).

The phrase "lesbians lost" began seeing more use and responses in October of 2020. On October 17th, 2020, Twitter user @cutforfatma posted a video of TikTok user Noah Beck, saying "lesbians really lost," gaining over 230 retweets, 1,800 likes, and 10,000 quote tweets (shown below).

The tweet was widely mocked. User @luulubuu^[3] tweeted, "RT if you think lesbians, in fact, won," gaining over 1,200 retweets and 2,300 likes (shown below, left). User @narukunyeet^[4] joked that the man looked like a cross between Joker and Terry from Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

On October 21st, 2020, Twitter user @DoraWinlfred posted a similar video saying "lesbians lost," gaining over 60 retweets and 6,300 quote tweets as people mocked the post (shown below).
