Lo Svarione Degli Anelli

FIRST DESCRIPTION

"Lo svarione degli anelli", which is the italian for "The Blunder of the Rings", is a well-known italian parody of "The lord of the rings". Through an uncannily clear dubbing, the movie is represented with a total different meaning, and the plot is vastly modified, even if the scenes are the same.
The movies present a continuous reference to drugs, in particular to weed. However, the dialogues are completely free from blasphemy, and there's a witty succession of raw and more sophisticated jokes. There are also sporadic references to current affairs topics, like the italian issue of lack of information of the mass media.
The names of all the characters are modified, in a funny or demential way. For example, Aragorn is called "Arabong", while Legolas became "Rizlas".
The voices are funny, almost of the characters have a different accent, which, in Italy, sometimes appear like a great difference between regions. For example, Dildo (which stand for Bilbo) has a strong accent from Milan, Rizlas is from Leghorn, Gimmix (Gimli) is completely Neapolitan.
The story presents the same pattern of the original one, but the reason of the travel of Godo (which stand for Frodo) is completely different: in order to defeat Svarion (Sauron), the Fellowship must destroy the Ring, which could be transported only by a virgin man. In the ring, in fact, lies the power of the "Fuorismo", an italian slang word which stand for "The distorted perceptions and sensations obtained through drugs". Broadly speaking, the ring contain the power to eliminate the freedom of choice from the good races (humans, elves, dwarves).

THE CREATORS, AND THE CREATION

The creators are 5 italian men, Fabio, Pujo, Tia, Alessandro and Shella, which started this parody just for fun. They created two fictitious film production companies, the "Casetta Line Cinema" and "Chilausa", and started the parody like a game, in the 2006. Then, thanks to youtube, which permitted a vaste spread of the scenes to everybody, "La Compagnia del Verginello" began a real "must-seen", in italy. The first videos on youtube were completely overflown by requests of a new chapter of the parody. The five decided to maintain the production completely free, but they started a merchandising of gadgets like t-shirts with references to the film. After 1 year, "I Due Porri" was released, and the phenomenon reached the peek of notoriety, during March, 2007. In the second chapter, notably is the participation of a well-known italian rap band, "Robotflow", which create a very strong friendship with "those from the Svarione". The wait for the third chapter was palpable through all the public, but the 5 were doubtful: the creation of the last 2 chapter was really demanding for them, expecially because of the lack of receipts. In order to solve this problem, they created a special section, in their site, www.clistere.org, for generous donations from the public. In exchange, they promised to make the names of all the donators appear in the next chapter.
After 2 year, during March, 2009, Il Ritorno del Padrino was released for free again. It could have been seen on youtube, streamed by megavideo or downloaded with megaupload. But the expectations were satisfied only by half-measure. In fact, with a really irriverent and sarcastic joke, the movie was interrupted during a climax (the meeting of Shelob, the enormous spider and Godo), and it spoiled the up-coming of the fourth chapter, "Il ritorno del Padrino – Vol 2". This caused a great commotion among public, but seemed very enjoyable for the authors, who actually laughed at the swear words against them.
However, the second chapter of "Il Ritorno del Padrino" is expect to came out during March, 2012, as the creators announced on their web-site.

DIVISION

The parody is divided in four part, all of which experienced an increasing success in Italy:

• "La Compagnia del Verginello", which could be translated as "The Fellowship of the Little Virgin Guy" (parody of "La compagnia dell'anello", the italian for "The fellowship of the ring").
• "I Due Porri", which could be translated as "The two tuft of weed" (parody of "Le Due Torri", the italian for "The Two Towers")
• "Il Ritorno del Padrino"

• "Il Ritorno del Padrino – Vol 2", which could be translated as "The Return of the Godfather (- 2° chapter)" (both parodies of "Il ritorno del Re", the italian for "The Return of the King").

MEME, and SUBMEME

The "Svarione" is recognized as a great vehicle of memes, in Italy. Just the word "Svarione", or "Fuorismo", which were only dialectal before the phenomenon, now are over used in a lot of context.
Ganjalf – Ganjalf is one of the greatest character created in the parody. He has a personality which stand from the one of Gandalf from the original movies. He's crazy, and create jokes with his craziness. For example, in this video he explain the real message written on the ring:
