About

Logo Remixes (or "Logo Ident Remixes") refer to a series of videos that remix the music on the production company logos that play at the start of television programs, video games and movies. Typically, the author will replace the music of one production company with another production company's music.

Origin

The first known instance of this type of video comes from YouTuber Malpass93.[1] On November 4th, 2008, Malpass93 posted their first logo remix entitled "Ident Remix 1 – C4 1982 Blocks with HTV 1980s Blocks music." In this video, the British television network Channel 4's old blocks were played with HTV's 80s theme music. The video (shown below) received more than 6,900 views in eight years.

Many times, especially British based videos are referred to as "Logo Ident Remixes." According to Dictionary.com,[5] "Ident" means "a short visual image employed between television programs that works as a logo to locate the viewer to the channel."

Spread

Over the next few years, Malpass93 continued to make videos, generally working in the medium of news channel logos. About two weeks after their first video, Malpass93[3] posted "Ident Remix 2 – TSW 1982 with BSB The Power Station 1990 music." The video (shown below, left) received 6,100 views.

On September 21st, Malpass93[2] uploaded "Ident Remix 41 – Sky One 2008 with BBC2 Car music." The video (shown below, right) received 6,300 views, as of August 2017.

On February 4th, 2011, YouTuber[4] Steven Harding uploaded Nickelodeon's slime logo with the BBC 2's Silk music. The video (shown below) received more than 26,000 views in six years.
