Part of a series on Solo: A Star Wars Story. [View Related Entries]

About

#MakeSolo2Happen, also known as Make Solo 2 Happen, refers to a social media campaign to convince Disney of interest in a sequel to the 2018 science fiction film Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Origin

On September 14th, 2018, Solo-writer Jon Kasdan tweeted[1] a series of thoughts and observations on the film, which had been released in theaters May 10th of that year. In the final post, he said of the possibility of a sequel, "To be honest, I think the challenge has much more to do with the foreign box office than the U.S.. Personally, I think there are great Star Wars movies to be made that don’t need to cost quite so much. Hopefully that will be the trend in the years to come, and maybe, just maybe, that trend will allow us, one way or another, to tell more stories with Alden, Joonas, Emila and Donald." The tweet received more than 150 retweets and 1,600 likes in eight months (shown below, left).

Two days later, Star Wars podcaster James Baney responded to a tweet about a Solo sequel "#MakeSolo2Happen" in less than one year (shown below, right).[2]

Jon Kasdan @JonKasdan concluded 51. If you felt like it was just a cheap stunt, I suppose that's fair, but the the truth is Maul was built into the design of Solo in many subtle ways, including the name Crimson Dawn, the artifacts in Dryden's study, and Qira's use of Teras asi. Maul is my favorite character from the prequel trilogy. I love that Dave Filoni brought him back and expanded on his story in Clone Wars and Rebels. I love that there is at least some continuity between the shows and the movies. For me, Maul was destined to pass through Solo as the ultimate SW Keyser Söze. 52. Will there ever be a sequel'cause it really seems like you guys were setting one up? To be honest, I think the challenge has much more to do with the foreign box office than the U.S. Personally, I think there are great Star Wars movies to be made that don't need to cost quite so much. Hopefully that will be the trend in the years to come, and maybe, just maybe that trend will allow us, one way or another, to tell more stories with Alden, Joonas, Emila and Donald. With those actors and RH, I would jump at the opportunity. Given the way Hollywood, and the culture at large, seem to run from anything labeled a disappointment, the odds seem like they're against it happening anytime soon. But, I suppose, Han wouldn't have it any other way. We really appreciate the feedback, love talking about this stuff with the fans, and we couldn't be more excited that Solo is now available to anyone who wants to see it anytime they want to. May the Force be with you... always. 5:15 AM -14 Sep 2018

The greater aerie
The greater aerie

who wants to bet this is a shallow corporate marketing attempt to try and create or gauge market reception to the floundering franchise that is starwars with a less controversal offshoot.

it's sad, fucking barely was known, the article sites last year and being that i am drawn to the salt mine that is starwars you'd think i'd have heard about it.
all in all THE ABSOLUTE STATE OF STARWARS
where you have to chase after a sequel to a thoroughly mediocre.
Who asked for this?
who really wanted it?
i mean you have a galaxy of rich infinite possibilities and you own like 35% of the entire entertainment industry, why not just fucking use that money and create new and interesting things with this soap opera. why not just make something new get some smart people to do it, isn't that why you destroyed the canon that had been created over 30 years?
no
let's just tell the story of a fucking crook that doesn't need to be told, han is not a character with a deep baskstory for a fun for all ages type of movie so why waste time with this shit

Maybe this is what happens when your entire business model is taking old stories and remaking them
