Male Loneliness Crisis Stock Image refers to a stock photo of a bald man that was popularized on X / Twitter in March 2024 after X user @orbitves posted the image saying that they did not care about the "Male Loneliness Crisis" when men looked like the person pictured. Other internet users began discussing the stock image in the days that followed.
Origin
The image of a balding man was first posted to iStock[1] on September 15th, 2011. The image was titled, "Real young man," and was part of a series of photos with similar posing and lighting (seen below).
On March 3rd, 2024, X[2] user @orbitves reposted the image, writing, "the 'male loneliness crisis' is a good thing actually, because why would I ever want to date a guy that looks like this?😭😭." The post gathered over 17,000 likes and 3,000 quotes in four days (seen below).

X[3] user @orbitves's post drew criticism on the platform, predominantly from people calling them a "radfem" and accusing them f bigotry toward who many consider to be an average-looking man. X[3] user @TheStrxggler quoted the post on March 4th, 2024, writing, "Body positivity crowd is shaming bodies again," and gathering over 87,000 likes in three days (seen below, left).
On March 5th, X[4] user @ThugginZemin described the man as having the "'friendliest guy you know' physiognomy," gathering over 10,000 likes in two days (seen below, right).
Also on March 5th, 2024, an anonymous user posted the stock image to 4chan's /pol/,[5] writing, "People who look like this would look at you dead in the eyes and tell you they’re descendants of aryan ubermenchs who are ancestrally related to the resurrected great adolf hitler from hyperborea" (seen below, left).
On March 6th, X[6] user @WheelchairUser8 wrote, "imagine being this poor mf just trying to make a couple bucks from a stock image shoot and out of nowhere every fuckass radfem on twitter is blasting your face everywhere saying no one should ever date you," gathering over 7,000 likes in a day (seen below, right).
Some internet users offered advice on how the man pictured in the image could looksmaxx, as seen in a reply to the aforementioned 4chan post (seen below).
