The meme started on 04/06/2010 in 4chan when Anonymous posted the following:
"FUCK YOU!
I AM A MANTIS, GOD-KING OF INSECTS!!!
FUCK YOU"
This resulted in many pictures of other praying mantises with similar statements said with them being made until someone took one of the pictures anonymous had already posted and edited the words to the picture, similar to the Courage Wolf meme. This started a flood of images done in the same style and thus started the meme.
