Marv is an anthropomorphic frog that is a customizable variant of Pepe the Frog. Marv is usually dressed up in various outfits and used for profile pictures and memes.
Additionally, Marvbol or Marvbol Gang is a far alt-right group used by groypers or Apus in the phrase "marvbolgang." Marvbol Gang describes Marv as a small, flat and cute, not fat and humanoid, not badly drawn or ugly, simply the ideal digital frog."
ORIGIN
Marv aka Lättä (flat-footed frog), is speculated to have originated from the Finnish image board Ylilauta. While no archived threads exist, a subreddit for Lättä was created as early as 2018.
SPREAD
On January 18, 2019, a 4chan user replied to a thread on /pol/ (archived thread) saying, "No, 2017 was the year of Groyper. 2018 was the year of Apu and 2019 will be the year of Marv. Marvbol Gang is currently winning the war on Twitter as we speak."
On February 14, 2019, YouTuber Machinist Marv uploaded a video titled "Viking Ship" and subsequently posted many more videos on his channel in which he used Marv to portray Alex Jones.
Twitter user @2cool4u119 posted a popular Marv meme (shown below).
MARVBOL
Marvbol or Marvbol Gang (Wiki) is a peculiar kind of movement that attempts to mix far-right ideology and ultra-nationalism. The reason the group uses Marv the frog is to break the normie streaks and to be elite and cohesive. They seek to establish the best frog as well as expose weak frog breeds whenever they see them. Marvbol Gang (Fren Report) created their first Telegram on July 16, 2019, currently banned for mobile users… now dormant. Marvbol Gang Secondary Telegram channel (Channel) was created on January 20, 2022, which is currently restricted for mobile users. The term "Marvbol Gang" was first used on Twitter (Tweet) on October 2, 2018.
