About
"Meatier / Meteor" refers to a TikTok video in which user Eliza Petersen plays out a skit between God and an Angel in which God asks if the angel made dinosaurs "Meatier" like he asked. The angel, confused, misheard God and sent the dinosaurs a "Meteor." The TikTok was praised for its acting, leading to parodies on Twitter. In September 2020, the #HeyAngel tag started trending on TikTok, acting as an extension of the "Meatier / Meteor" format.
Origin
On September 9th, 2020, TikTok user lizemopetey,[1] real name Eliza Petersen, posted a comedic sketch on TikTok in which God speaks to an angel about making dinosaurs "meatier," but the angel has misheard and sent the dinosaurs a "meteor." The video gained over 2.9 million likes (shown below).

Spread
The video was praised for its acting; Twitter user @sambstryker[2] tweeted the video saying, "Can you win an Oscar for a TikTok?", gaining over 91,000 retweets and 295,000 likes (shown below). He quote-tweeted user @taddmike,[3] who gained over 17,000 retweets and 54,000 likes.

The tweet helped the video spread virally on Twitter, as people began posting parodies of it. For example, user @FeelingFisky[4] posted a parody that gained over 70,000 retweets and 315,000 likes (shown below, left). User @purrseok[5] posted a similar parody that gained over 24,000 retweets and 108,000 likes (shown below, right). Jokes were covered by Junkee.[6]
Hey God / Hey Angel
In late September 2020, #HeyAngel started trending on TikTok. Videos under the hashtag follow the same format as Eliza Petersen's "Meatier / Meteor" video, in which users play out a skit between an angel and God, with the angel ultimately mishearing a direction from God. One of the first instances of this was uploaded by TikToker matvansen[7] on September 16th, captioned, "Are we making this a trend?" (Shown below.) In the video, an angel mishears God ask him to cleanse California's air with a purifier as "cleanse them with pure fire," making reference to the California wildfires.
