Mighty Lips is a photoshop meme, which involves photoshopping oddly styled lips originating from an old Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series over an image's original lips. The meme is normally circulated through the Sonic fandom, particularly on Tumblr.

Origin

In 1993, Archie Comics released a comic book series starring the video game icon Sonic the Hedgehog. Early in the comic's run, while artists circulated in an out of the series, a pair of cartoonish lips were sometimes present on the Sonic characters. On March 7th, 2012, Tumblr blog amomentofarchiesonic^[3] posted a page from Knuckles the Echidna Issue 11^[4], which was published in February of 1998. The pages highlighted the cartoonish lips of the characters, and the post was captioned "Mighty's Lips." As of September 2014, the post has gained over 100 notes.

On March 30th, amomentofarchiesonic published a most titled "More Might Lips." As of September 2014, the post has gained over 400 notes.

On December 29th, 2013, DeviantArt^[6] user PendersLogic posted an image of comic book creator Ken Penders with mighty lips photoshopped over his own.

On January 3rd, Tumblr blog whyteknuckle^[7] posted an image of a Sonic character with mighty lips photoshopped over his own.

On February 6th, 2014, whyteknuckle posted an image of a Sonic character from a more modern work with mighty lips photoshopped over its own, as of September 2014, the post has gained over 100 notes.
