Sally Acorn, also known as Princess Sally is a main protagonist from the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, as well as in the "SatAM" Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon series. She is an anthropomorphic chipmunk with a large online fanbase, and has received numerous fan works which are usually in the form of fanart.

Origin

Sally's first appearance was in the teaser comics for the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog series, which were released in 1992 and in the comic series' official release on November 24th, 1992.^[1] Her first television appearance was in the SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog series (clip compilation shown below), which first premiered on September 18th, 1993. In the cartoon series she was voiced by Kath Sousie.^[2]

Sally also received her own three-comic miniseries from Archie Comics titled Princess Sally in February, 1995.^[3] Her last appearance in the Archie Comics series was on the variant cover art of the unreleased Sonic the Hedgehog issue 294, which was the last cover art released before the comic series' cancellation on April 19th, 2017.^[4]

Online Presence

Princess Sally was covered in Nostalgia Critic's review of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog, which first premiered on Channel Awesome on February 18th, 2009, and was reuploaded to the Channel Awesome YouTube channel on September 5th, 2015. In the review, he says that Princess Sally was "The face that launched a thousand furries."

Videogame Appearances

Officially, Sally has only appeared briefly in one of Sonic Spinball's bonus stages (shown below, left). However, fans have modded her into several Sonic the Hedgehog titles, including Sonic the Hedgehog 1,^[5] Sonic the Hedgehog 2^[6] (shown below, right), and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles^[7] on the Sega Genesis. Mods were also released to add her into Sonic Adventure 2,^[8] and Sonic Frontiers on PC.^[9]
