About
Millennial Falcon is an advice animal image macro series featuring a picture of a hawking falcon, with captions voicing the issues facing Millennials. The name of the macro is a pun on the name of Han Solo's spacecraft, the Millennium Falcon, from Star Wars.
Origin
The image came from a picture of a peregrine falcon.[1] The first Millennial Falcon post (pictured below) appeared on the image sharing website Imgur on January 10th, 2017, from ChrisDurpaderpherp[2] who posted both an example of the meme and the template. The post quickly brought in almost 221,000 views and around 5,000 upvotes (shown below).
Spread
After the original Millennial Falcon was posted, the macro quickly gained popularity with many more Millennial Falcon posts popping up on the site. On January 11th, user DeliciousMeats[3] published an album of Millennial Falcon images that gained over 239,000 views and 9,400 points that day. On January 12th, Redditor Blebbb submitted a post titled "Not job hopping hurts a career, not the other way around," featuring a Millennial Falcon complaining about companies refusing to promote from within or give reasonable raises (shown below). Within eight hours, the post gained over 15,100 votes (89% upvoted) and 1,000 comments.
