Miners (Transformers One) refers to a series of memes using clips from the 2024 Transformers film Transformers One in which the word "miners" is said often, sounding like its homophone "minors." One scene of the character Darkwing angrily saying, "Grr, miners!" went particularly viral on YouTube and TikTok in late 2024 and spawned memes about being angry at minors. Overall, many scenes in the movie used the word "miners," leading to an array of memes using a variety of clips.

Origin

On September 20th, 2024, the film Transformers One was released in American theaters.^[1] The film is an animated children's movie that depicts the origin story of famous Transformers characters like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. In many scenes of the film, the word "miners" is used because, before they were Transformers, the characters were young layman miners working on the Transformers' home planet.

Before the film's release, on August 21st, Paramount Pictures posted a promo clip of the IACON Race scene to YouTube.^[2] In the scene, many characters are confused and excited about "miners" being in the race.

On August 22nd, multiple YouTubers posted memes using the "miners" soundbites from the promo clip, like YouTuber^[3] Home whose video received over 199,800 views in two months (shown below).

Also on August 22nd, YouTuber^[4] Mario Minion Productions posted a video using the same clips, adding Vine Booms and flashing images of Drake and Ava Tyson (referencing their controversies and allegations from that year), gaining over 29,000 views in two months (shown below).

In the following months, and after the film's late September 2024 release date, more clips of the word "miners" being used in Transformers One surfaced online, generating memes and viral posts.

For instance, on September 29th, YouTuber^[5] Txedo_guy posted a Short that joked about Transformers One being "peak" but included multiple references to "minors," gaining over 861,900 views and 69,000 likes in nine days (shown below).

Darkwing "Grr Miners!"

In late September 2024, a clip surfaced online from Transformers One in which the character Darkwing angrily says, "Grr, miners!" An early high-quality upload of the clip was shared by YouTuber^[6] Dropkick on September 24th, gaining over 10,200 views in two weeks (shown below).

On September 25th, TikToker^[7] @ripc10 posted a meme with the clip, using the I Just Lost My Dawg sound and adding a caption making fun of Minecraft YouTubers after hitting one million subscribers, receiving over 313,600 plays and 46,700 likes in 13 days (shown below).

More memes using the scene surfaced online, like one video shared by TikToker^[8] @diogovn17 on October 3rd, 2024, which received over 293,000 plays and 56,700 likes in five days (shown below).
