Most Important Events in History refers to a series of memes based on a timeline depicting three most important events in human history: the control of fire, the invention of the wheel, and a third, usually recent event that the author of the meme humorously deems just as major, such as a release of a music album. Started by a Bocchi the Rock! meme in late October 2024, the format achieved viral popularity on X / Twitter in the following weeks.

Origin

On October 26th, 2024, X^[1] gimmick account @BocchiTheChurch posted a humorous version of the human history timeline titled "Most important events in history". The timeline listed the control of fire by early humans, the invention of the wheel, and, humorously, the releases of Bocchi the Rock! manga and anime series in 2017 and 2022. The post (shown below) received over 120 reposts and 980 likes in two months.

Spread

On October 28th, 2024, Instagram^[2] page socialstudies.textbook posted the earliest found edit of the image, a meme about Singaporean politician Lee Kuan Yew. The post gained over 1,200 likes on Instagram in two months.

On October 30th, 2024, X^[3] user @miku_daily39 posted a Hatsume Miku edit of the image that received over 5,700 reposts and 42,000 likes in two months (shown below).

Following the Hatsune Muku edit, the format saw further spread on X / Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit in the following weeks. For example, on November 5th, 2024, X^[4] user @SonnyMooreGame posted a meme about Skrillex' 2010 album Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites that garnered over 1,900 reposts and 11,000 likes in two months (shown below).

Multiple versions of the meme gained major traction online in November and December 2024. The format has frequently been used to highlight importance of certain music album releases, similarly to Thank You for Changing My Life meme format.
