Nancy Reagan Throat Goat refers to a series of memes inspired by a Twitter thread that argued over the sluttiness of former first lady Nancy Reagan in comparison to pop singer Madonna. The original tweet was posted in early December 2021 and inspired memes and reactions across platforms like Instagram and Facebook going into the rest of 2021.

Origin

On December 9th, 2021, Abby Shapiro, the sister of political commentator Ben Shapiro, posted a tweet^[1] (shown below, left) where she compared images of Madonna and Nancy Reagan at 63 and 64. The next day, December 10th, Twitter^[2] user @zachheltzel tweeted a reply to Shapiro (shown below, right) that included a screenshot from an article written by the Village Voice that highlighted a moment in the 1992 biography, Nancy Reagan: The Unauthorized Biography, where it's said that Reagan, "was renowned in Hollywood for performing oral sex," and that she, "gave the best blowjob in town." The tweet reply received over 50,000 likes in three days' time.

Additionally, however, there is a tweet from July 3rd, 2020, that referenced Nancy Reagan as the "Throat Goat" before the December 2021 origin. The tweet (shown below) was posted by Twitter^[10] user @WagesGarnished and received 208 likes over roughly one year.

Spread

The above Abby Shapiro thread inspired users to react en masse going into December. One of the first to do so was Twitter^[3] user @andraydomise who quote tweeted Shapiro's tweet on December 10th saying, "I know Nancy Reagan head game went stupid." He received roughly 3,100 likes over three days.

Twitter^[4] user @JuanB1anco was the first, however, to refer to Nancy Reagan as the "Throat Goat" in 2021 via a reply to his own tweet posted on December 10th (shown below, left). His reply received only one like however. Another tweet using the term was posted two hours later by Twitter^[5] user @twicetheMF that received more attention, with roughly 236 likes over three days. This tweet popularized the term, "Nancy Reagan Throat Goat," more notably.

Also on December 10th, Twitter users started joking about actor and wrestler Mr. T receiving oral sex from Nancy Reagan after a photo was tweeted by the account @RetroNewsNow^[6] that showed Nancy Regan sitting on the lap of Mr. T dressed as Santa Claus. The tweet (shown below) received roughly 2,700 likes in three days' time. In subsequent replies to the tweet, people posted memes about the sexual possibility further, like user @KALPHA_,^[7] who tweeted, "She took her teeth out and got to work on Mr.T," receiving 65 likes over three days (also shown below).

More Twitter^[8] users went on to joke about Reagan and Mr. T being intimate going in the days following. Memes also started appearing on other platforms like Instagram. For instance, the meme shown below was posted by Instagram^[9] user @mf_void on December 11th and uses the My Parents at Age 29 meme format. The post received 611 likes over two days.
