About

NibblesFren refers to depictions of the Tom and Jerry character Nibbles the mouse illustrated on MS Paint. In many of these depictions, Nibbles' eyes are half-open, resembling the Polish Jerry meme. Users on the imageboards where the image spread refer to the original artist as Nibbles Anon and associated the artist's work with the "Fren" moniker due to the anon/artwork's child-like typing style and drawings' striking simularities between the Apu Apustaja and Frenworld memes.

Origin

On November 20th, 2020, an anonymous 4chan ^[1] posted the earliest known version of the NibblesFren on the /co/ imageboard. In the image, Nibbles is holding a Nintendo DS. The poster commented on the photo, "i drew nibbles the mouse from tom and jerry with a red nintendo ds xl

Spread

Following the original post, on November 20th, 2021, the Nibbles Anon took requests from the other posters, gaining support for their wholesome MSPaint renditions of Nibbles and Child-like mannerisms.(shown below, left).^[2] That day, they posted an other image of Nibbles and commented, "nibbles drawn exactly from the fram i take requests."

When the first thread ended, NibblesFren posted "thank you to everyone who liked my art it makes me happy. i will become a good animater. i have to go to church now so have a good day godbless."

Over the next few months, illustrations of Nibbles continued to spread on the imageboard. For example, on January 8th, 2021, an anonymous user posted, "i drew nibbles the mouse for th e snowy holiday season i will take requests" (shown below, right).^[3]

On March 20th 2021,Nibbles Anon returned showing that he has learned how to draw Jerry the mouse and was allowed to see the Tom and Jerry movie the next day. Later art pieces showed that the Nibbles Anon had some from of continuity,including the Flaming Skateboard,"I love Ny" cup,and Teddy Bear make reappearances.^[4]
