NYC Blanket Couple is a viral video of two people seemingly having sex under a dark green blanket in the middle of Battery Park in New York City. The video was uploaded to TikTok in late April 2024 and went viral shortly after, inspiring reactions, memes and discourse, with many expressing shock towards the video. A day after the video was posted, another clip of the same couple emerging from the blanket was posted on TikTok, inspiring further discourse.
Origin
On April 29th, 2024, TikToker[1] @girlsorwomen posted a video taken at Battery Park in New York City during the day in which two people are filmed moving erratically under a blanket, appearing to have sex. The video, which is set to the song "Dolce Nonna" by Amy Hayashi-Jones and Wayne Jones, is captioned, "Trying to enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon in NYC…" The video gained over 40 million views in two days (shown below).

The video inspired memes, reactions and discourse over the following days, also gaining viral spread online. On April 30th, 2024, TikToker[2] @selwrd posted a video that shows the couple emerging from the blanket and brushing themselves off, garnering over 20.9 million views in a day (shown below).

That day, numerous TikTokers uploaded viral reactions to the video. For example, TikToker[3] @samlesi posted a video that gained over 6 million views in a day (shown below, left). TikToker[4] @trwyfe posted a reaction to the video suggesting they could be registered as sex offenders for the act and wondering if they know they're going viral on TikTok, garnering over 1.2 million views in a day (shown below, right).

Later that day on April 30th, 2024, TikToker[5] @heathenmedicbrad posted a meme offering a POV of the couple's perspective while under the blanket, garnering over 5.8 million views in a day (shown below, left). Also on the 30th, X[6] user @lexinsweetener posted a meme about the video, garnering over 200 likes in under 24 hours.
On May 1st, TikToker[7] @deliops31 posted a meme referencing the viral video, garnering over 56,000 views in an hour (shown below, right).

Another purported angle of the couple performing lewd acts under the blanket was uploaded by TikToker @betterthanwellbutrin that day, although this one appears to have been taken at sunset and more explicitly shows a thrusting motion, garnering over 7.7 million views in a day (shown below). The authenticity of the video is unconfirmed.
